The NDC Also Solicits Money From Arabs — Franklin Cudjoe Fires Back At Kevin Taylor
Franklin Cudjoe, Founding President of IMANI Africa, has questioned the criticism directed at reports that former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former Speaker of Parliament Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu could travel to Gulf countries to seek financial support ahead of Ghana’s 2028 general elections.
In a Facebook post on November 2, 2026, Cudjoe responded to comments made by Kevin Taylor on Loud Silence Media, where Taylor alleged that the two political figures were planning to visit Gulf nations to raise funds for the elections. Taylor further claimed they intended to “sell the nation to the Arabs” and indicated that he would provide additional details.
Reacting to the allegation, Cudjoe questioned why seeking financial assistance from Arab countries should automatically attract condemnation, particularly if such engagements could generate meaningful returns through investment and economic cooperation.
He also drew attention to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), arguing that the party equally seeks financial support from Arab countries. His remarks suggested that political actors should be assessed consistently rather than criticised simply because of the countries from which they seek assistance.
Cudjoe’s comments have brought renewed attention to discussions about foreign financial support and political fundraising in Ghana. They have also highlighted the need to distinguish between funds raised to support election campaigns and engagements aimed at attracting foreign investment for national development.
However, the reports concerning the proposed trip by Bawumia and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu remain allegations attributed to Kevin Taylor, rather than a confirmed announcement by the individuals involved.
