Gyewu-Appiah further alleged that the funds had been channelled towards musician Fantana, a claim the minister has categorically rejected by pursuing legal redress.

The allegation directly implicates Ablakwa in the misuse of public funds designated for a consular operation — a serious accusation for a sitting cabinet minister.

By naming both the communicator and Media General Ghana in the suit, Ablakwa is targeting both the individual who made the claims and the platform that broadcast them.

Musician Fantana, whose name was dragged into the matter by Gyewu-Appiah, had previously threatened to sue the controversial NPP communicator separately over the allegations connecting her name to Ablakwa.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported about the Minority's call for Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to resign over alleged shortfalls in payments to Ghanaians evacuated from South Africa.

At least three evacuees reportedly received GH¢2,000 instead of the promised GH¢5,500, while Ablakwa insisted everyone on the list received the full package.

The dispute prompted calls for an independent audit and raised questions about accountability.
