“Ruto Is Not Sleeping: Gachagua Admits Defeating Ruto May Be Difficult and Reveals What He Has Been
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged opposition politicians to strengthen their grassroots mobilisation efforts if they are determined to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Tuesday, November 3, Gachagua warned that the opposition would struggle to remove the president from office if its members continued holding meetings in hotels without actively reaching out to voters across the country.
He argued that defeating Ruto would require a well-organised political strategy focused on attracting supporters and expanding the opposition’s electoral influence.
“We cannot remove Ruto while sitting in hotels. Ruto is not sleeping; he is working on his numbers. He understands that politics is a game of numbers,” Gachagua said.
His remarks come amid growing questions about his level of involvement in the opposition’s campaign to challenge Ruto’s anticipated re-election bid.
The former deputy president appeared to suggest that opposition leaders must move beyond political discussions and begin establishing stronger connections with ordinary citizens. He stressed the importance of building voter support and developing networks capable of translating political ambitions into electoral victories.
Gachagua, who leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), has continued to position himself as an influential opposition figure ahead of the 2027 elections.
