President Tinubu breaks silence on Saudi Visit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed appreciation to the Saudi Arabian authorities for the hospitality and special recognition accorded to him and members of his delegation during their visit to the Holy Ka’bah in Makkah.
In a video shared by Splash FM 105.5, the Nigerian president expressed surprise and gratitude after noticing that barriers surrounding the Ka’bah had been painted in Nigeria’s national colours of green, white and green.
Tinubu described the gesture as a remarkable show of recognition and appreciation, saying he was deeply touched by the efforts made by the Saudi authorities to honour Nigeria during the visit.
The president also thanked the Saudi authorities for granting him and members of his delegation the opportunity to enter the Holy Ka’bah and offer prayers. He described the experience as a historic honour and an unforgettable moment for him and the Nigerian delegation.
Speaking after the visit, Tinubu expressed his gratitude, saying:
“I want to say a big thank you for the faith, for the recognition. I can’t believe the fencing of the Ka’bah was in green white green. I thank them for the hospitality and recognition given to me as the leader of the delegation and the country.
“We are all facing challenges and hostility around us, we will overcome it with faith in God Almighty. I am grateful forever.”
The president’s remarks reflected his appreciation for the warm reception and the symbolic gesture of displaying Nigeria’s national colours at one of Islam’s most sacred sites.
The Holy Ka’bah, located within the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, holds immense spiritual significance for Muslims around the world. Millions of Muslims visit the sacred site annually to perform Hajj and Umrah, making access to the Ka’bah a particularly significant experience.
Tinubu’s opportunity to enter the Ka’bah and pray alongside members of his delegation was therefore described by the president as a special privilege.
His comments also highlighted the importance of faith, unity and gratitude, particularly at a time when Nigeria continues to face various national challenges.
The president concluded by expressing lasting appreciation to the Saudi authorities for the hospitality and recognition extended to him and the Nigerian delegation during the visit.
