Prepare for Rainfall as KMD Issues Seven-Day Warning Forecast to Kenyans Across The Following Areas
The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast rainfall in several parts of the country over the next seven days, warning residents in 47 counties to prepare for changing weather conditions between November 3 and 10, 2026.
The weekly forecast indicates that different parts of the country will receive rainfall, although the showers may not be experienced uniformly across the affected counties. Residents have been encouraged to monitor local weather updates and plan their daily activities according to the expected conditions.
Morning rains accompanied by afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.
The counties expected to receive rainfall include Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Nandi, Bomet, Nakuru, Baringo, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and West Pokot.
Residents in these areas should remain prepared for rainfall, particularly during the afternoon when showers and thunderstorms may develop in some locations.
Cold and cloudy conditions with morning rains giving rise to sunny intervals are expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County. The affected counties include Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Embu, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi and Laikipia. Nairobi is also among the areas expected to receive rainfall during the week.
In the South Eastern Lowlands, rainfall is expected in parts of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni and Kajiado. Narok is also included in the forecast, with residents advised to follow weather changes throughout the week.
Along the Coast, rainfall is expected in parts of Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, Tana River and Taita Taveta counties.
In northern and northeastern Kenya, the forecast includes Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo and Samburu, which are also expected to receive rainfall during the seven-day period.
The forecast comes as farmers continue preparing their farms during the October to December rainy season. Those in the affected areas can take advantage of improved soil moisture while remaining alert to changing weather conditions.
Kenyans are encouraged to follow official KMD updates throughout the week because rainfall amounts and timing may differ from one location to another.
