Just in; Mt Kenya MP Declares 2027 Deputy President Bid, Pledges Support For Ruto’s Re-election

Ndia Member of Parliament George Kariuki has officially declared his intention to contest for the Deputy President seat in the 2027 General Election.

The legislator is aiming to succeed the current office holder, Deputy President Rigathi Kindiki, whose position he seeks to occupy in the next political cycle.

In a strategic political move, Kariuki has publicly pledged his unwavering support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid.

The lawmaker maintains that backing the Head of State for a second term is crucial for the continuity of ongoing development projects and the stability of the current administration. Kariuki is positioning himself as a loyal and reliable partner within the ruling coalition.

Furthermore, the Ndia legislator has issued a strong call for unity among leaders from the Mount Kenya region. He specifically emphasized the need to bridge the divide between the East and West factions of the vote rich bloc.

Kariuki warned that disunity could undermine the region’s bargaining power in the national political arena, urging local leaders to consolidate their efforts and speak with a unified voice ahead of the upcoming polls.

The declaration is likely to intensify political realignments within the Kenya Kwanza administration as various leaders begin to position themselves for succession politics.

Kariuki’s bid to join the top tier of leadership signals a shifting political landscape and an early start to the campaigns that will shape the 2027 ballot.
