If Prophets Are Crooks, Pastors Are Criminals — Kumchacha Drops Bombshell On Otabil
The prophets are fighting the pastors now.
It all started when ICGC founder, Pastor Mensa Otabil, boldly said what many Christians have been thinking. He said many people calling themselves prophets in Ghana are crooks.
“There are a lot of crooks calling themselves prophets, and those who believe they are genuine prophets should announce the crooks because they are spoiling your work,” Otabil said during church service.
He even added that about 90% of prophets in Ghana are not truly born again. Some are sleeping with people’s wives. Some are liars. They are destroying the name of the church.
That statement shook Ghana. Some people clapped for Otabil. They said finally, a big man of God has spoken the truth.
The founder of Heaven’s Gate Ministries has fired back at Otabil, telling him to mind his own business.
“Our father Mensa Otabil, stay in your lane so that nobody will disrespect you. If some prophets are misbehaving, it is we the prophets who should speak about it,” Kumchacha said.
In Twi, he said: “Di wo lane mu” — meaning stay in your lane.
According to Kumchacha, Otabil is a teacher of the Word, not a prophet. So he has no right to judge prophets. He said some senior pastors are overstepping and using double standards. When prophets do something wrong, they shout. But when pastors do worse, they keep quiet.
Kumchacha believes if there are fake prophets, it is the real prophets who should expose them, not pastors.
One side says Otabil is 100% right — many prophets today are fake, collecting money, giving fake prophecies about elections and football.
The other side says Kumchacha is also right — Otabil should focus on preaching and leave prophets alone.
But one question remains: If 90% are crooks, who are the 10% that are real?
And will the real prophets have the courage to mention the names of the crooks, as Otabil challenged them to do?
