Ghanaians React As NPP Supporters Stage A Protest At Tetteh Quashie Roundabout In Accra
According to a report by The1957News today being Tuesday, November 3, 2026, NPP Supporters Assemble at Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout for YÉ› Gye YÉ› Sika Protest Over Government Spending
Supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have begun gathering at the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout in Accra ahead of the party’s much-anticipated Yɛ Gye Yɛ Sika demonstration.
The demonstrators, who were seen holding placards with various inscriptions, have called for accountability from the government, particularly concerning the expenditure incurred during the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.
A significant part of their concerns is directed at the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, whom they want to provide further explanations regarding the financial details surrounding the evacuation exercise.
The protesters believe that the government must be transparent in its handling of public funds and provide answers to questions surrounding expenditures undertaken on behalf of the country.
Apart from raising concerns about the South Africa evacuation expenditure, some of the demonstrators have also expressed dissatisfaction with the overall performance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
Their grievances appear to cover broader issues of governance, accountability and the management of the country’s resources since the NDC assumed office.
The gathering at the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout forms part of the mobilisation activities ahead of the demonstration organised by the opposition party to challenge what it considers questionable government spending.
The YÉ› Gye YÉ› Sika protest is expected to provide a platform for NPP members, sympathisers and other concerned individuals to publicly communicate their grievances and demand explanations from the relevant authorities.
The presence of demonstrators at the roundabout has drawn attention to the growing political activities surrounding the planned protest in the capital.
As the demonstration approaches, participants are expected to use their placards, chants and public statements to communicate their demands to the government.
The opposition party is using the protest to reinforce its call for transparency and accountability, particularly in matters involving public expenditure and the responsibilities of government officials.
The gathering also reflects the continuing political disagreements between the NPP and the governing NDC over the management of national affairs.
