JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 3 NOVEMBER 2026

South African football sensation Relebohile Mofokeng has received another major recognition on the international stage after being named the October Player of the Month by Belgian publication Les Sports.

The talented midfielder emerged ahead of several highly regarded players, including Club Brugge stars Nicolo Tresoldi and Carlos Forbs, to claim the prestigious monthly recognition.

The achievement represents another encouraging moment for South African football, with Mofokeng continuing to attract attention beyond the country’s borders.

Having established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in South African football, the Orlando Pirates star has consistently demonstrated the technical ability, creativity and confidence that separate exceptional players from the ordinary.

His latest recognition in Belgium further underlines the growing appreciation of his talent internationally.

The October Player of the Month award, curated by Les Sports, places Mofokeng ahead of players competing in European football, making the accomplishment particularly significant.

For South African supporters, seeing a local talent receive recognition in a European football conversation is a source of enormous pride.

Mofokeng has enjoyed a remarkable rise at Orlando Pirates, where his performances have made him an important figure in the Buccaneers’ attacking setup.

His ability to operate between the lines, create opportunities, take on defenders and deliver decisive contributions has made him one of the most exciting players to watch in the Premier Soccer League.

The youngster has also attracted attention from international observers, with his performances fuelling conversations about his potential future abroad.

However, the award is not simply about individual recognition. It also reflects the growing visibility of South African footballers on the international stage.

For Pirates, Mofokeng’s continued development is an encouraging sign, particularly as the club looks to compete for domestic and continental honours.

His achievement also sends a positive message to young footballers across Mzansi that talent developed locally can earn recognition beyond South Africa’s borders.

While the award will undoubtedly boost his confidence, maintaining consistency and continuing to improve will be important as expectations around his career increase.

For now, Mofokeng has another reason to celebrate.

Mzansi to the world! Relebohile Mofokeng is putting South African football on the international map.
