Cynthia Konlan nominated for 2026 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award

Ghana goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan has been named among the 10 nominees for the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.

She earned the nomination following her impressive performances during the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.

Konlan made four appearances at the tournament, recording one clean sheet and conceding four goals in 360 minutes.

She is the only Ghanaian on the shortlist, which features some of the continent’s finest goalkeepers following their performances over the past year.

The Black Queens goalkeeper will face competition from Chloe N’Gazi of Algeria, Michaely Bihina of Cameroon, Mercy Sikelo of Malawi and Fatoumata Karantao of Mali.

Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi, Nigeria’s Christiana Uzoma, Senegal’s Adji Ndiaye, South Africa’s Kaylin Swart and Zambia’s Hazel Nali complete the list.

Konlan’s nomination represents recognition of her contributions to Ghanaian women’s football and her performances between the posts for both club and country.

Meanwhile, the Black Queens have also been nominated for Women’s National Team of the Year, giving Ghana recognition in three women’s categories.

The 2026 CAF Awards, slated for Monday, December 7, 2026, will celebrate outstanding performances across African football over the eligibility period.
