Alfred Oko Vanderpuije Says Ghana Is Better Off Under Mahama Than NPP

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, has stated that Ghana is in a better position under the current administration led by President John Dramani Mahama than it was during the previous government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Vanderpuije, who previously served as the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, made the remarks while discussing the country’s current political and economic situation.

According to the NDC lawmaker, developments under Mahama’s administration suggest that Ghana has made progress compared with the period when the NPP governed the country.

His assessment comes amid ongoing debates between the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition NPP over the country’s economic performance and the effectiveness of government policies.

Members of the NDC have continued to defend the current administration’s approach, pointing to its policies and efforts to improve national conditions. Meanwhile, the NPP has maintained its role in scrutinising the government’s decisions and assessing its performance.

Vanderpuije’s comments have added to the political discussion surrounding the change in administration, particularly as Ghanaians continue to evaluate the impact of government policies on their everyday lives.

However, the MP did not provide specific economic statistics or indicators in his remarks to substantiate his comparison between the two administrations.

Issues such as inflation, unemployment, public debt, economic growth and the cost of living remain important factors in assessing the country’s overall progress.

His statement is therefore expected to generate further reactions from supporters of both political parties, especially as discussions continue over whether the current administration has delivered improvements compared with its predecessor.
