Solskjaer Open to Manchester United Return as Carrick Faces Pressure

According to a report from Daily Post Nigeria, on Monday November 02, 2026, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he would welcome another opportunity to manage Manchester United, describing his time at Old Trafford as unfinished business.

The former Norway striker took charge of United permanently from March 2019 until November 2021. Asked about a possible return, the 53-year-old said: “Of course, it would have been nice to have the opportunity again.”

Solskjaer’s comments come as current manager Michael Carrick faces growing scrutiny. United have gone nine matches without a win and are just one place above the Premier League relegation zone.

Despite the team’s poor run, Solskjaer expressed confidence in Carrick’s ability to improve results.

He said Carrick understands the club, its supporters and the demands of the job, adding that he believes the current manager is the right person to lead United forward.

Solskjaer’s remarks may fuel speculation about his future, but he stopped short of suggesting that he expects to replace Carrick. For now, he has publicly backed his successor while acknowledging that he would have welcomed the chance to return to the club.
