Oshiomhole Reveals Why Atiku Married, Divorced Jennifer Douglas

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, November 2, 2026, Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has recounted how the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, allegedly married Jennifer Douglas from the Southeast after promising to make her the First Lady if he won the presidential election.

Oshiomhole claimed that Atiku eventually divorced Jennifer after failing to secure victory in the presidential contest.

The former Edo State governor made the allegations on Monday while addressing supporters at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

According to the senator, Atiku’s decision to marry Jennifer was connected to his political ambition and his promise to give her the position of First Lady if he emerged victorious in the election.

Oshiomhole used the account to criticise the former vice president, while also cautioning him against making derogatory remarks about President Bola Tinubu.

He argued that Atiku should exercise restraint in his comments about the Nigerian leader, rather than resorting to personal attacks.

According to Oshiomhole: “Like somebody said the other day that Atiku went to the Southeast and said, ‘If I win election, your daughter would be the First Lady, that was when he married Jennifer.”

The senator’s remarks formed part of his criticism of the ADC presidential candidate during the APC campaign rally, where party leaders continued to canvass support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Oshiomhole’s comments also highlighted the political rivalry between the ruling APC and the opposition ADC ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
