Olori Mariam, Oba Elegushi’s Interaction At Singer L.A.X’s Wedding Gets People Talking

A brief interaction between Olori Mariam Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Oba Saheed Elegushi, has stirred reactions on social media.

The moment occurred on Sunday, November 1, 2026, during the lavish wedding celebration of Nigerian singer L.A.X, whose real name is Damilola Afolabi, and his wife, Ella, in Lagos.

In a video circulating online, Oba Elegushi was seen embracing Olori Mariam and placing his hand on her shoulder while the two exchanged words.

The Olori appeared displeased during the interaction, prompting the monarch to seemingly explain himself before stepping back.

The footage has generated different interpretations among social media users, with some suggesting that the exchange was a friendly disagreement, while others questioned the monarch’s gesture towards the Ooni’s wife.

One social media user claimed that Olori Mariam was unhappy with Oba Elegushi for allegedly failing to visit her after she welcomed her twins but showing up to greet her at the wedding. However, the claim has not been independently established.

The interaction also sparked a debate about royal etiquette, with some users describing the monarch’s gesture as harmless while others questioned whether it was appropriate.

The wedding, hosted by L.A.X’s father, billionaire businessman Taiwo Afolabi, attracted several prominent personalities, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife Patience Jonathan, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

The singer’s wedding celebrations had included a civil ceremony in Malta and a Nikkah ceremony on October 29, before the grand Lagos celebration on November 1.
