The final journey of veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru is taking shape, with his family announcing funeral arrangements to celebrate his life and bid farewell to the screen star.
The family made the announcement in a statement posted on the actor’s official Instagram page on Monday, titled “Forever in Our Hearts.”
According to the statement, funeral activities will begin with a Service of Songs and Tributes in Abuja on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at 5 p.m. The event will take place at Family Worship Center, Idris Gidado Street, Wuye, Abuja.
The family will later hold another Service of Songs and Tributes in Imo State on Thursday, December 10, at the family compound of the late Pa Theophilus Ogide Duru in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano.
The final rites, including the actor’s funeral and interment, are scheduled for Friday, December 11, at the same location.
The family also disclosed that additional Services of Songs are being organised by various branch bodies and associations across different states, giving more people the opportunity to honour the late actor.
Duru, 59, died on October 22, 2026, after battling an undisclosed illness.
His passing marked the loss of a familiar face in Nollywood, an industry whose productions have long found audiences beyond Nigeria, including in Ghana.
As preparations begin for his burial, family, colleagues and admirers will have the opportunity to celebrate his life and remember his contribution to the film industry.
