Lydia Wanjiru Warns Kenyans About Halloween Celebrations.

Social media personality Lydia Wanjiru has joined the debate surrounding Halloween celebrations in Kenya, urging people to be mindful of the activities they choose to take part in.

In a post shared on her Instagram page on Monday, November 2, 2026, Wanjiru acknowledged that everyone was free to make personal decisions but cautioned her followers against welcoming what she described as unnecessary energy into their lives.

“To each their own, though. But make sure you are not welcoming unnecessary energy into your life. Life is spiritual,” she wrote.

Her remarks come amid mixed reactions to Halloween, which is celebrated annually on October 31. The occasion is commonly marked by costume parties, themed decorations and trick-or-treating, where children dress up and visit homes to collect sweets.

In Kenya, the celebrations have sparked discussions, particularly on social media. While some people see Halloween as an opportunity to dress up, socialise and have fun, others question its cultural and spiritual associations.

Wanjiru’s comments appear to reflect concerns among those who believe the celebration may carry spiritual implications. Although she did not explain what she meant by unnecessary energy, her message encouraged followers to consider the choices they make and their personal beliefs.

Her use of the phrase “to each their own” also acknowledged that people have different views and should be free to decide whether or not to participate.

The debate reflects differing attitudes towards foreign cultural celebrations in Kenya, with Halloween continuing to attract both interest and criticism. Wanjiru’s remarks have added to the conversation, particularly among those who view the occasion through a spiritual lens.
