Ken Agyapong Reportedly Secures 70% in NPP Research as TESCON and University of Ghana
Reports claiming that former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has secured approximately 70 per cent support in an alleged New Patriotic Party (NPP) research exercise have attracted attention amid discussions about the party’s internal political dynamics.
The reported findings are said to have been obtained from research involving members of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) and individuals associated with the University of Ghana. However, the details surrounding the research, including its methodology, sample size and the identities of those who conducted it, have not been independently established.
The reported 70 per cent figure, if accurate, could generate further discussion about the level of support Kennedy Agyapong enjoys among sections of the NPP grassroots, particularly young party members.
Agyapong has previously engaged TESCON members during campus visits, where he acknowledged their contribution to the party and called for greater recognition of student activists. He has also advocated expanding participation in the NPP’s internal electoral processes.
Meanwhile, the mention of Afenyo-Markin’s possible removal or sacking in connection with the circulating claims adds another dimension to the political discussion. However, no independently verified evidence has established a formal decision to remove him or linked such a development to the alleged research findings.
The NPP continues to navigate internal political discussions following its defeat in the 2024 general elections, with questions surrounding party leadership, grassroots participation and its preparations for the 2028 elections.
For now, the reported 70 per cent figure should be treated as an unverified claim rather than an officially confirmed research outcome.
