Kaizer Chiefs Coach Under Fire for Derby Tactics

A frustrated Kaizer Chiefs supporter has called on the club’s management to dismiss head coach Fernando Da Cruz following the team’s 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.

The supporter questioned Da Cruz’s tactical decisions, particularly his substitutions and overall management of the match, arguing that the coach failed to respond quickly enough as Chiefs struggled against their traditional rivals.

In a social media post, the fan criticised the difference in approach between the two technical teams, pointing out that Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou had introduced four substitutes while Da Cruz was seemingly slow to make changes.

He also questioned the decision to withdraw Vilakazi while players such as Mako remained on the pitch. Concerns were further raised about the defensive selections involving Rushwin Dortley and Miguel.

The supporter went as far as describing Da Cruz as a “plumber” and urged Chiefs to consider replacing him with Manqoba Mkhize, whom he believes could have produced a better result.

He also argued that the coaching staff should have recognised signs of fatigue among players and introduced fresh legs earlier.

The comments reflect frustration among some Amakhosi supporters following another disappointing derby result. However, there has been no indication that the club’s management intends to act on the fan’s demands.

Da Cruz will now face pressure to improve performances as Chiefs prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
