‘If things are tough abroad, come home’ – Medikal to Ghanaians in diaspora
Rapper Medikal has urged Ghanaians living abroad who are finding life difficult to consider returning home, as he reminded that they can still build successful lives in Ghana.
In a social media post, the musician encouraged those who have spent a long time overseas to return, using the recent homecoming of his brother, Tee Flow, as an example.
“To all my brothers and sisters abroad, if ebi long for outside, come home like my brother Tee Flow just did. We are starting the #Brafie program now,” he wrote.
Medikal also sought to challenge the perception that success and better opportunities can only be found outside Ghana, insisting that people can make a living and achieve their ambitions in their home country.
“You can make here in Ghana. Ghana is our only Home,” he added.
His message appears to be directed particularly at Ghanaians who may be enduring financial difficulties, demanding working conditions or other challenges while living abroad. Rather than continuing to struggle overseas simply because they have relocated, Medikal is encouraging them to consider starting afresh in Ghana.
The rapper is championing the #Brafie initiative to encourage Ghanaians in the diaspora to return to their roots.
Medikal’s appeal follows the case of 15-year-old Ghanaian national Javits Badu Nkansah Frimpong, who died in a shooting incident in the Bronx, New York, in the United States.
The teenager’s death has generated sadness among Ghanaians, with the incident drawing attention to the experiences and safety of young people living abroad.
Medikal’s post has therefore brought together a call for Ghanaians to reconsider life overseas when circumstances become difficult and a heartfelt expression of grief over the death of a young Ghanaian in the United States.
