Mother of 8-month-old infant allegedly abandoned in Mbradan bush arrested
A woman has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service after her eight-to-nine-month-old baby was reportedly found abandoned in a bush at Mbradan New Site in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
The infant was allegedly abandoned on Sunday, November 1, 2026, prompting concern among residents after the child was discovered at the location.
According to sources, the mother allegedly left the baby there because her husband was reportedly unwilling to take responsibility. She was also said to have been struggling financially and lacked a source of income to cater for the child.
The woman is reportedly a native of Kadawene, a neighbouring community close to Mbradan, where the toddler was found.
The Ghana Police Service has since arrested her in connection with the incident as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged abandonment.
The identity of the childβs father and the precise events leading to the toddler being left in the bush have not been established.
Further details are expected to emerge as police continue their investigations.
