FG set to open applications for 5,000 renewed hope homes in Lagos

Spread the word Following successful groundbreaking, Nigerians at home and in the diaspora have been encouraged to explore mortgage opportunities through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to secure homes in Lagos for themselves, their children and families.

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD) is set to open its application platform for eligible and interested Nigerians seeking to own homes under the 5,000 Harmony Renewed Hope Housing Units being developed in partnership with Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos state.

The development follows the successful groundbreaking held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Lekki Aviation Town, Yegunda Government Resettlement Scheme, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos state.

With the groundbreaking ceremony concluded, attention is now shifting towards the homeownership application process, as Nigerians seeking residential properties in Lagos for themselves, their children or other family members are encouraged to begin making enquiries through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) or their respective mortgage banks.

Interested applicants may also contact Harmony Gardens directly on 08034775527 for guidance on available housing options, eligibility requirements, documentation and mortgage application procedures.

The housing initiative will deliver 5,000 residential units across Lekki Aviation Town, The Parliament and GranVille Estate within 36 months, providing opportunities for eligible Nigerians at home and abroad to acquire homes along the Lekki-Epe corridor through structured mortgage financing and flexible payment arrangements, subject to applicable financing conditions.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained concerned about Nigeria’s estimated 15 million housing deficit, affecting approximately 120 million Nigerians.

He explained that the Federal Government was considering a nationwide social housing initiative involving the construction of 100 housing units in each local government area, alongside a proposed 100,000-unit housing programme.

According to the Minister, feasibility assessments and costing exercises were underway to accommodate differences in construction costs across states and ensure that the proposed developments respond to the housing needs of Nigerians.

In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Gardens and Estate Development Limited, Hon. (Dr.) Audullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa, popularly known as Mr-Ibile and the Lagos Landlord, described the partnership with the Federal Government as an important opportunity to make homeownership more accessible through structured and affordable payment arrangements.

He explained that the initiative was designed not merely to construct residential buildings but to develop sustainable communities where Nigerians could own homes through mortgage financing rather than depending entirely on outright payments.

Mosadoluwa particularly encouraged parents who desire to secure homes in Lagos for their children, including those studying, working or planning to settle in the state, to take advantage of the opportunity to explore available housing and mortgage options.
