Hull City Midfielder Submits Documents For His Switch Of Nationality From England To Nigeria
According to a report by OwnGoalNigeria.com on Monday, November 2, 2026, Hull City midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has submitted the necessary documents to FIFA for his switch of nationality from England to Nigeria.
The 23-year-old, who joined Hull City from Everton during the summer transfer window, was born in England to Nigerian parents and previously represented the European country at youth international level.
Iroegbunam recently agreed to commit his international future to Nigeria following discussions with Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
The midfielder subsequently began the process of changing his international allegiance and has now submitted all the relevant documents required for FIFA’s approval.
The report further revealed that Iroegbunam has already obtained a Nigerian passport and is receiving assistance from a family member who has experience handling matters of this nature.
Chelle has been actively working to convince players of Nigerian descent, particularly those playing at a high level in Europe, to represent the country at international level.
The Super Eagles coach has previously indicated that attracting eligible dual-nationality players is a strategy being pursued by several African national teams to strengthen their squads.
However, despite making significant progress with his nationality switch, Iroegbunam will not be available for Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
The midfielder will have to wait for FIFA to complete the necessary clearance process before he can officially represent the Super Eagles.
His potential arrival would provide Chelle with another option in midfield, as Nigeria continues to strengthen its squad ahead of upcoming international assignments.
