Even Saudi Arabia, Which Produces More Oil Than Us, Has Increased Fuel Prices- Yari

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, November 2, 2026, Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, defended Nigeria’s recent fuel price increase, saying the country should not be exempt from economic pressures affecting other nations.

Speaking at the APC presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State, Yari said rising petrol prices were not unique to Nigeria. He noted that fuel costs were increasing worldwide as international crude oil prices climbed.

The former governor added that Nigeria could not be expected to remain insulated from changes in the global petroleum market, especially when other major oil-producing countries were also raising domestic fuel prices.

Yari pointed to Saudi Arabia as an example, noting that although it is one of the world’s largest oil producers, it has also raised fuel prices.

He argued that Nigeria could not be exempt from the global trend and that the situation was not unique to the country.

He also questioned why Nigerians expected fuel prices in Nigeria to remain different when other major oil-producing countries were increasing theirs.

He said, “Nigeria can’t be an exception, there’s fuel price hike in Saudi Arabia. Even Saudi Arabia, which produces more oil than us, has increased fuel prices, so why should Nigeria be different?”
