Double Transfer Bombshell: Elias Mokwana And Thembinkosi Lorch Linked With Kaizer Chiefs
Mokwana And Lorch To Kaizer Chiefs? Amakhosi Linked With Two High-Profile Attacking Signings
JOHANNESBURG – Kaizer Chiefs could be preparing for a major attacking reshuffle, with Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana and experienced forward Thembinkosi Lorch both being linked with a possible move to Naturena.
The two players have attracted attention amid growing speculation about the club’s plans to strengthen its squad under head coach Fernando Da Cruz. Their possible arrivals would add experience, creativity and attacking quality to an Amakhosi side looking to become more competitive in the Betway Premiership.
However, while interest in both players has been reported, neither transfer has been officially confirmed by Kaizer Chiefs. The latest developments suggest that Mokwana is considerably closer to a possible agreement, while Lorch’s situation remains uncertain.
Mokwana has emerged as one of the names attracting serious attention at Naturena following his departure from Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis in September 2026.
The 27-year-old winger became a free agent after reaching an agreement to end his contract with the North African club, despite having an agreement that was originally scheduled to run until June 2027.
According to reports published on 2 November, Chiefs are believed to be nearing an agreement with the former Sekhukhune United attacker. Negotiations with his representatives are reportedly continuing, with the possibility of a deal being concluded in the coming days.
Mokwana previously played in Saudi Arabia for Al Hazem, where he scored four goals during his loan spell. His experience in the Premier Soccer League, combined with his pace and ability to take on defenders, makes him an attractive option for the Soweto giants.
Former Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has also publicly encouraged the club to consider signing the winger, praising his creativity, dribbling ability and experience in continental football.
Meanwhile, Thembinkosi Lorch has also been linked with a possible return to South African football, with Kaizer Chiefs reportedly among the clubs interested in his services.
The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has faced uncertainty surrounding his future at Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli. Reports published in October indicated that he could be allowed to leave after reportedly falling outside coach Faouzi Benzarti’s plans.
Chiefs have been mentioned as a possible destination, although interest from North African clubs has also been reported. No official agreement between Lorch and Amakhosi has been announced.
At 33, Lorch would bring considerable PSL experience and attacking versatility. His ability to operate behind the striker or in wide attacking positions could give Da Cruz additional tactical options.
If Chiefs manage to secure both players, their attacking department could receive a significant boost. Mokwana would offer pace and directness, while Lorch could contribute experience, creativity and the ability to produce decisive moments.
For now, supporters will have to wait for official developments from Naturena. Mokwana’s reported negotiations appear to be progressing, but Lorch’s possible return remains speculative.
