ADB Ghana Medical Outreach Raises Alarm as 192 Kaneshie Residents Show Uncontrolled Blood Pressure

A health screening exercise conducted by ADB Ghana Medicals in Kaneshie has raised serious health concerns after 192 residents were found to have uncontrolled blood pressure. The outreach, aimed at promoting preventive healthcare within the community, uncovered a troubling prevalence of hypertension among participants.

During the exercise, medical personnel assessed residents’ blood pressure levels and identified that nearly 200 individuals were living with dangerously elevated readings, many of whom were unaware of their condition. Health officials expressed worry that the high number of uncontrolled cases could signal a silent health crisis in the community, as uncontrolled hypertension significantly increases the risk of stroke, heart disease, and kidney failure.

The medical team advised affected residents to seek immediate follow-up care, adopt healthier lifestyles, and take prescribed medications consistently. They emphasized the importance of regular blood pressure checks, reduced salt intake, exercise, and avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and smoking.

ADB Ghana Medicals reaffirmed its commitment to community health education and free screenings, noting that early detection remains key to preventing complications from hypertension and other non-communicable diseases. The organization urged residents to prioritize their health and take advantage of future outreach programs.
