As the cost of living rises in Nigeria, so does the cost of having a good time. According to Zikoko’s State of Income Report 2026, only 24% of Nigerians earn enough to cover basic needs and leave disposable income. People are being priced out of basic amenities and no longer have extra expendable income to spend at nightclubs. Between overpriced drinks and expensive table bookings, keeping up with club culture feels increasingly out of reach. Raves offer a different kind of nightlife, where you can show up, dance and have a good time without breaking the bank.

The music is also a big part of the appeal. Across the Lagos rave scene, DJs play everything from EDM and Afrohouse to Afrobeats, Pop and 3-step, blending genres and experimenting with sounds that keep the dance floor moving. With raves becoming more mainstream, more women are stepping behind the decks, bringing their own musical influences to the scene and exploring new ways to blend sounds and genres.

If you’re new to the Lagos rave scene, looking to discover new music, or simply want to put more women DJs on your radar, here are some worth checking out.

Aniko centres her sets on house music, and uses them to mix other sounds like Afrobeats, hip-hop and RnB.
