We May Not Continue – Sarkodie Cries Over Stadium Fees

According to a report by KessbenTV, on Sunday November 1, 2026, award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has expressed concern that the future of the Kumasi edition of his popular Rapperholic concert could be in jeopardy due to what he describes as extremely high charges imposed for the use of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The rapper’s concerns come after NY DJ revealed that the National Sports Authority (NSA) allegedly charged around GH¢400,000 for Rapperholic to be held at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Reacting to the revelation, Sarkodie indicated that the rising cost of organising the event had already become a major concern for him and his team.

According to the celebrated musician, they had even begun questioning whether the Kumasi edition of Rapperholic could continue under the current circumstances.

“Sad part is myself and the team asked if Kumasi Rapperholic will be able to continue,” Sarkodie said.

He further disclosed that the amount paid for this year’s event was significantly higher than what was charged previously, putting additional pressure on the organisers.

“We paid almost 3 times what we paid for last year this year. We plead with authorities to be a bit reasonable with these fees to be able to keep this economic boosting event in Kumasi,” he added.

Rapperholic has grown into one of Ghana’s most recognised annual music events, drawing thousands of music lovers and creating business opportunities for vendors, transport operators, hotels and other businesses that benefit from the influx of patrons.

Sarkodie’s comments have therefore raised concerns among fans about the possibility that escalating venue charges could affect the continuation of the event in Kumasi.

The rapper is now appealing to the relevant authorities to reconsider the fees, stressing that a more reasonable arrangement could help sustain an event that contributes to the local economy and provides entertainment for thousands of people.

With Sarkodie and his team openly questioning the sustainability of the Kumasi Rapperholic, attention will now turn to whether a solution can be reached to ensure that the major music event remains part of the city’s entertainment calendar.
