“WANTAM Instead of TUTAM”: Dufla Diligon Left Surprised as Samburu Residents Chant After Ruto’s Gift

Musician Dufla Diligon found himself at the centre of an unexpected moment after Samburu residents chanted “WANTAM” instead of “TUTAM” during celebrations marking his 10-year music anniversary.

The event, which brought together residents and other guests, took an interesting political turn when the crowd broke into chants associated with calls for a change of government.

The incident reportedly happened after President William Ruto gifted the musician money in recognition of his decade-long journey in the music industry.

Dufla Diligon, who was celebrating an important milestone in his career, appeared surprised by the residents’ reaction as the chants filled the venue.

The contrast between the two slogans made the moment particularly interesting. While “TUTAM” is associated with support for President Ruto’s administration, “WANTAM” has become a popular slogan among Kenyans calling for a change in government.

The reaction also demonstrated how political conversations have increasingly found their way into public gatherings, including entertainment events that are not primarily organised around politics.

For Dufla Diligon, the anniversary marked 10 years of pursuing his music career and connecting with fans. The presidential gift was also among the notable moments of the celebrations.

However, the residents’ unexpected response became another talking point from the event, with the chants drawing attention to the political mood expressed by sections of the Samburu crowd.

The moment presented an unusual contrast between the recognition the musician received from the President and the political message coming from some of the residents.
