Today’s Headlines:Tinubu deserve second term—Yahaya Seriki;I didn’t protest against Jonathan–Adeboye
A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State, Yahaya Seriki, has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, saying the President deserves a second term in office.
Seriki, who is also the North-Central Coordinator of the City Boys Movement and Chairman of Kursi Group, said Nigeria had not experienced the kind of policy direction being pursued by the Tinubu administration, expressing confidence that the policies would produce a better country.
He made the declaration while speaking at an empowerment programme in Ilorin on Saturday, where he unveiled a package worth over N4bn, comprising N1bn in cash and about N3.2bn in equipment and other items
According to him, the package includes no fewer than 150 vehicles, sewing machines and other equipment aimed at supporting beneficiaries in different businesses and economic activities.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has denied claims that he carried a placard protesting former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Adeboye clarified that the viral photograph of him holding a placard was taken during a 2020 prayer walk, not under Jonathan’s administration.
Speaking during the church’s November Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, the cleric accused a journalist of twisting facts and misrepresenting the event’s date.
He said the report portrayed him as “a wicked man” who protested against Jonathan, whereas the walk was organised to pray against insecurity and killings in the country.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi has rated himself above President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Obi made the declaration on Saturday during a town hall meeting in Owerri, Imo State, as part of his ongoing engagement with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stated that he stands taller than the two political heavyweights in terms of competence, character, capacity and compassion to lead Nigeria.
According to the former Anambra State governor, his track record in office, his prudent management of resources and his performance in the 2023 presidential election where he defeated Tinubu in Lagos, prove that he is better positioned to rescue Nigeria in 2027.
Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege and Dr. Iyabo Obasanjo are among the candidates who made the updated list of contestants for next year’s elections published yesterday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Omo-Agege is seeking a return to the Red Chamber of the National Assembly from Delta Central on the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) while Dr.Obasanjo is flying the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ogun Central.
Also listed is the name of former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Ibrahim Ali Isa Pantami who is the PDP governorship candidate in Gombe State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed December 15 2026, for final publication of the voters’ register.
Professor Joash Amupitan, Chairman of the Commission, disclosed this at the South-South Zonal Interactive Meeting with INEC Staff in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, this weekend.
He also reacted to concerns over allegedly AI-generated photographs appearing on the Commission’s preliminary voters’ register, saying the records are being examined for possible corrective action.
Amupitan said the Commission was reviewing the photographs and would take necessary steps based on verified findings.
