Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Movement Targets All 47 Counties Ahead of 2027 General Election

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Movement has announced plans to establish a strong political presence across all 47 counties ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The movement has identified constitutionalism, government accountability and grassroots mobilisation as its central priorities as it seeks to expand its national influence.

The announcement comes as the political outfit intensifies its efforts to build structures, recruit supporters and strengthen its organisation ahead of the next electoral contest.

The movement recently took its campaigns to Kwale County, marking another step in its nationwide mobilisation programme following its rebranding from The Equitable Party (TEP).

Speaking during the mobilisation tour, Sifuna outlined the group’s political agenda, insisting that constitutional principles must guide government operations and national development projects.

He challenged President William Ruto’s administration to respect the Constitution, protect citizens’ rights and ensure accountability in the management of public resources.

The Nairobi senator also questioned the secrecy surrounding several major national projects, arguing that Kenyans deserved greater transparency before important decisions were implemented.

Among the projects he raised concerns about were the proposed Dangote oil refinery in Lamu and plans to privatise the Kenya Pipeline Corporation and Kenya Ports Authority.

Sifuna maintained that decisions involving strategic national assets should not be made without involving citizens through meaningful public participation.

He argued that Kenyans must be given an opportunity to understand, question and contribute to decisions affecting their resources and economic future.

“We want the Constitution to be followed. Grabbing land and killing Kenyans is unconstitutional. All projects should be transparent,” Sifuna stated.

He further maintained that constitutionalism and accountability would remain the guiding principles of the Linda Mwananchi Movement.

The senator insisted that citizens should be allowed to exercise their constitutional rights freely without intimidation, threats or unnecessary restrictions.

His remarks also placed government accountability and the protection of fundamental freedoms at the centre of the movement’s emerging political agenda.

Beyond policy issues, the movement is also preparing for the 2027 elections, with Sifuna signalling a strong commitment to protecting its votes.

The political outfit reportedly ruled out relying on court petitions as its primary strategy for challenging disputed electoral results.

Instead, the movement is emphasising the importance of strengthening grassroots structures and preparing supporters to safeguard its electoral interests.

Its planned expansion into all 47 counties is expected to provide a nationwide network capable of supporting its political ambitions.

The Kwale mobilisation exercise also demonstrated the group’s intention to reach communities beyond its traditional political support base.

As the 2027 elections approach, the movement faces the challenge of transforming its growing political message into an organised national campaign.

Its ability to recruit members, establish county structures and maintain a consistent presence will likely determine how effectively it competes.

For Sifuna, the immediate priority appears to be building a political movement that can challenge established parties through grassroots organisation, constitutional accountability and electoral preparedness.
