Meet Edwin Sifuna’s Wife Didi Wamukoya, Her Academic Qualifications and Impressive Career

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has established himself as one of Kenya’s outspoken political figures, frequently attracting attention through his public statements and political engagements. However, away from the political spotlight, his wife, Didi Wamukoya Watenya, has built an impressive career in law and wildlife conservation.

Didi has attracted public interest because of her academic qualifications and professional achievements, despite maintaining a relatively private lifestyle.

She is a trained lawyer who graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi before proceeding to the Kenya School of Law, where she obtained a postgraduate diploma.

She later advanced her education by earning a Master’s degree in Environmental Law from the University of Nairobi, reflecting her interest in environmental protection and conservation.

Didi was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 2007 and went on to build a career specialising in wildlife protection, criminal investigations and enforcement of environmental laws.

One of her notable career achievements was working at the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), where she served as Head of Prosecution and Investigation Officer for approximately eight years.

During her time at the institution, she handled wildlife-related cases and contributed to efforts aimed at strengthening enforcement against illegal activities involving protected animals.

After leaving KWS, she joined the African Wildlife Foundation, where she took up responsibilities related to combating wildlife trafficking and improving conservation enforcement across Africa.

Beyond her legal career, Didi is also an author. She co-authored the 2015 publication Natural Resources and Environmental Justice in Kenya, which examines issues surrounding environmental protection and access to natural resources.

Away from work, Didi is married to Sifuna, and the couple has a daughter. They reportedly met while studying at the University of Nairobi before getting married in 2015.

Despite her husband’s growing political influence, Didi continues maintaining a private life while pursuing her professional interests.
