Kalonzo Musyoka Reflects on What Happened at the Linda Mwananchi Launch
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has spoken about his experience at the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement in Nairobi, expressing disappointment over the turnout of his allies and reaffirming his intention to contest the presidency in 2027.
Speaking in Machakos on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Kalonzo urged his supporters to remain united despite divisions within the opposition. He also dismissed pressure to abandon his presidential ambitions.
The former Vice President expressed disappointment that some Wiper members had not turned up for him at recent political events, including the Nairobi launch. He said he had been invited to the event and took time to look around to see how many members of his party were present.
“Move as a team,” he told his supporters, urging them to remain organised and committed to his political ambitions.
The Nairobi launch was held on Friday, October 30, where Kalonzo reportedly faced a hostile reception from some attendees after questioning the suggestion that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna could become a presidential candidate.
Kalonzo argued that Sifuna should first follow the required political procedures before being considered for the position. He also pointed to November 13 as an important date in the process.
Sifuna later intervened, urging those attending the event to respect visiting opposition leaders.
In Machakos, Kalonzo also criticised some religious leaders, accusing them of remaining silent in the face of injustice and poor governance.
His remarks come at a time when opposition leaders are seeking to build a united political front against President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
However, differences over presidential ambitions, party influence and political endorsements continue to raise questions about whether the opposition will agree on a single candidate.
For Kalonzo, the immediate challenge is to strengthen support within his own political camp as wider opposition discussions continue.
