Imo People Gathered At A Street Named After Ganduje, Insisted That Street Must Be Renamed—Opurozor
According to a report by Arise News, on Saturday October 31, 2026, Political tensions in Imo State continue to draw intense public interest following the ongoing legal and political tussle over the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Imo West.
Amid debates over national party dynamics and high-profile visits to former Governor Rochas Okorocha, the Imo State government has doubled down on its stance regarding local political backing.
Speaking on the developments, Collins Opurozor, Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Electronic and Creative Media, addressed recent visits to Okorocha by national party figures, challenging the notion that the former governor enjoys broad support within the state, the Southeast region, or the country at large.
Highlighting the lack of widespread acknowledgment following court rulings surrounding the political contest, Opurozor pointed to a stark absence of endorsements from key stakeholders:
“Besides the man you’re talking about, who else has congratulated Rochas Okorocha? Name one within state, within Southeast, and across Nigeria—not even one. And do you know what happened in the aftermath of that congratulation? He met Imo people gathered at a street named after Ganduje and insisted that street must be renamed. That is the anger.”
