Declan Rice Set to Sign Astonishing £18 Million-a-Year Arsenal Contract, Yet Will Earn Less Than Mikel Arteta
November 1, 2026 sportnow MIKEL ARTETA has announced that Declan Rice will be the latest player to secure a new long-term contract with Arsenal.
The 27-year-old, who will face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, is currently under contract until the end of next season.
Discussions regarding a new contract have been taking place, which would align his wages with those of Bukayo Saka at £350,000-a-week.
Arteta remarked: “My impression is that Declan is very happy here. Every conversation I have had with him indicates he wants to stay for the long term — it’s just a matter of time before we sort that out.”
The England international has become an essential player for the Gunners since his transfer from West Ham for £105 million in the summer of 2023.
His new contract at the Emirates is set to significantly increase his current salary of £240,000-a-week.

In February, Gunners winger Saka renewed his contract, committing to the North London club until 2030.
Additionally, French centre-back William Saliba signed a new five-year deal last September.
Recently, it was disclosed that manager Arteta has also agreed to a new contract until 2030, doubling his salary to an impressive £20 million per year.
Arteta, 44, stated that he is satisfied with Rice’s performances, even if he hasn’t been at his peak since returning from World Cup duty with the Three Lions.

The Spaniard remarked: “He has been very consistent again. What we expect from him each year is quite challenging.
“He is delivering and deserves huge credit. Top players are essential for significant matches.
“We know the kind of performance we need from Dec and the rest of the team against Liverpool to secure three points.”
Currently, Arsenal stands second in the Premier League as they prepare for the Liverpool match, facing a few injury concerns.
However, Rice, left-back Riccardo Calafiori, and wingers Christos Tzolis and Noni Madueke, who were absent in the unexpected Carabao Cup fourth-round defeat to League Two side Fleetwood midweek, have all trained ahead of the trip to Anfield.
