Ablakwa Announces Government Support for Javits Frimpong’s Mother and Funeral
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that the Government of Ghana will fully cover the travel expenses of Doris Adu Gyamfi, the mother of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong, to enable her to travel to the United States following the tragic death of her son.
According to Ablakwa, the government will also contribute towards organising a dignified funeral for the late teenager, who was reportedly shot dead in the Bronx, New York.
The announcement is expected to bring some relief to the grieving mother, who is currently in Ghana and needs to travel to the United States to participate in her son’s final funeral arrangements.
The minister’s statement reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the bereaved family during what has been an extremely difficult period.
Javits’ death has generated widespread reactions among Ghanaians, with several public figures, political leaders and concerned citizens expressing sympathy and demanding justice.
The incident has also attracted calls for American security authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and ensure that anyone found responsible is held accountable.
Meanwhile, the government’s decision to fund the mother’s travel and contribute towards the funeral has been presented as part of efforts to ensure that she receives the necessary support to lay her son to rest with dignity.
Many Ghanaians continue to follow developments surrounding the case, hoping that justice will be delivered for the 15-year-old teenager.
