“Tuheshimiane,” Bad News for Ruto as ODM Changes Tone and Sends Him This Bold Message Ahead of 2027

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has sent a strong message to President William Ruto, warning him against treating the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as the only party forming the broad-based government.

Junet insisted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) remains an important partner in the current political arrangement and should be respected when government decisions are being made.

“Ruto tuheshimiane bana, usijaribu kusema ati UDA ndio serikali, bila ODM hautoboi,” Junet stated.

His remarks come amid growing political discussions over the relationship between ODM and UDA as the two parties prepare for the 2027 General Election.

The Suna East legislator has repeatedly defended ODM’s decision to work with Ruto, arguing that the party has a strong political base that cannot be ignored.

In September, Junet maintained that UDA and ODM were the two parties forming the broad-based government, insisting that both deserved recognition.

He also told ODM supporters in Samburu that the votes previously given to the late Raila Odinga would now be directed towards Ruto in the next election.

However, the partnership has faced fresh questions, with some ODM leaders demanding a written agreement to guarantee the party an equal share of government positions.

On October 29, reports indicated that ODM leaders were divided over whether to support Ruto’s re-election unconditionally or first negotiate a formal power-sharing agreement.

The debate comes at a time when opposition leaders, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, are working towards building a united political force against Ruto.

Meanwhile, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna launched his new political party in Nairobi on Friday, October 30, adding another development to the changing political landscape.

Junet’s latest warning highlights the importance ODM places on its position in the broad-based government.

As 2027 approaches, will Ruto agree to give ODM the recognition and political influence Junet is demanding?
