She Bought Him a Car, 2 Bikes and Built His Mum a House, But He Allegedly Cheated

A Kisumu woman is heartbroken after discovering that her longtime partner was allegedly cheating on her with another woman, despite years of financial support and sacrifices she made for him.

Lilian Akinyi, who spent more than seven years in the relationship, opened up about her painful experience during an interview on TUKO Talks, revealing how she invested heavily in her partner’s life while receiving little financial support in return.

According to Lilian, she was the sole breadwinner throughout their relationship. She enrolled her partner in driving school, bought him a Nissan Tiida and two motorbikes, and even built a three-bedroom house for his mother in Kisumu.

The house came with a fence, gate and toilet. She also bought livestock, including 50 chickens, two sheep and two goats.

However, despite her generosity, Lilian said her partner rarely appreciated her efforts. She recalled spending KSh 150,000 on a four-night Valentine’s Day trip to Mombasa in February 2021, where she even bought herself a flower and asked him to surprise her with it the following day.

He never did, explaining that he could not gift her something she had purchased herself. She added that he never bought her flowers or even a KSh 200 chocolate throughout their relationship.

Lilian’s suspicions about his faithfulness began during the trip after a woman called his phone late at night. Although he dismissed the caller as a YouTube fan, she later discovered a woman’s photograph on his phone.

After returning to Kisumu, she reportedly found messages that confirmed her fears. When confronted, her partner broke down and apologised.

Things took another painful turn when his mother allegedly questioned why Lilian had spent so much money building her home instead of buying land for her own brother.

Heartbroken, Lilian returned to Nairobi with her daughter and one suitcase, leaving behind most of the household belongings.

She later sold one of the motorbikes for KSh 40,000, despite having bought it for KSh 120,000.

Reflecting on the experience, Lilian urged women to prioritise their financial independence and avoid sacrificing everything for romantic relationships.

“When you have money as a woman, take care of yourself first,” she advised.
