“Prepare Your Handing-Over Notes” – Solomon Owusu Predicts Afenyo-Markin’s Exit in 2027

According to a report by JoyNews on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Solomon Owusu, Director of Communications of the United Party, has predicted that Alexander Afenyo-Markin could lose his position in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by the first quarter of 2027.

Mr Owusu made the comments while discussing the proposed restructuring of the NPP and the political future of its Minority Leader.

He expressed strong doubts about Afenyo-Markin’s chances of retaining his parliamentary seat in the next political contest. According to him, the Efutu Member of Parliament could face serious challenges in his constituency, making it difficult for him to secure another term.

Mr Owusu suggested that Afenyo-Markin should begin preparing for a possible departure from his current political position. He used strong language to emphasise his prediction, saying the Minority Leader should start preparing his handing-over notes.

He stated that by the first quarter of next year, Afenyo-Markin would no longer remain in his current position. His comments suggest that he believes significant political changes could take place within the NPP as the party works towards rebuilding its structures.

The remarks come at a time when the NPP is facing discussions about its leadership, internal organisation and preparations for future elections.

Although Mr Owusu did not provide specific details to support his prediction, his comments have added to the ongoing political debate surrounding the future of the party’s leadership and the position of Afenyo-Markin.

His prediction also raises questions about the political strength of the Minority Leader in the Efutu Constituency and whether he can maintain his parliamentary position in the coming years.

The comments were made during an appearance on JoyNews’ Prime Insight programme, where the discussion focused on the NPP’s proposed restructuring.
