Papa Penny Calls on Giyani Voters to Remove ANC from Power
Greater Giyani Municipality mayoral candidate Eric Nkovani, popularly known as Papa Penny, has urged eligible voters to vote the African National Congress out of power and give the Mayibuye iAfrika Movement a chance to lead the municipality.
Nkovani made the call on Saturday, 31 October, during the party’s final push motorcade campaign through the streets of Giyani. Political parties are intensifying their campaigns ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November 2026.
Addressing supporters and volunteers, Nkovani encouraged residents to use their votes to bring real change to Greater Giyani. He asked them to support the Mayibuye iAfrika Movement at the ballot box so the municipality can get new leadership.
The motorcade brought together scores of party supporters. They moved through Giyani as the movement made its last strong appeal to voters before election day. The campaign is part of the party’s effort to grow its presence in the municipality and show residents that there is an alternative to the current ANC-led administration.
Mayibuye iAfrika Movement is contesting the mayoral race in Greater Giyani against the ANC, ActionSA, the Democratic Alliance, and several other parties. With only a few days left before voting, the contest is expected to focus on local governance, service delivery, accountability, and who should lead the municipality for the next five years.
Nkovani’s message places the decision in the hands of the voters. They will choose which party gets the mandate to govern Greater Giyani. The elections take place on 4 November 2026.
The final campaign push comes as parties across Limpopo work hard to win support. In Greater Giyani, issues such as roads, water, and basic services remain important for many residents. Nkovani and his team used the motorcade to speak directly to communities and remind them that change is possible if they vote differently.
Supporters dressed in party colours joined the procession, waving flags and carrying banners that highlighted the movement’s call for jobs, clean water, and better roads. The event formed part of the last days of campaigning before special votes and the main election day.
As the polls draw near, Greater Giyani residents will decide whether to keep the ANC in charge or give another party the opportunity to lead. Papa Penny’s call on Saturday adds to the busy final stretch of the 2026 local election campaign in the municipality.
