The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has announced the identification of two suspected Ebola cases in the North East region.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the agency said the two individuals had been placed in isolation as public health teams commenced contact listing, tracing and laboratory investigations.
The NCDC clarified that being classified as a suspected case does not confirm an Ebola infection, stressing that the final status of the cases would be determined through laboratory tests.
It urged Nigerians to maintain proper hand hygiene and adhere to recommended public health and safety guidelines to prevent the possible spread of infectious diseases.
The agency also assured the public that further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.
