Nairobi: Kayole Man Fakes His Death to Evade Police, Returns a Week Later and Terrorizes Area Badly
Residents of Kayole, Nairobi, have raised concerns over a suspected criminal, identified as Joel Kaloki, whom they accuse of allegedly faking his death on Facebook to evade police attention.
According to residents, Kaloki reportedly announced his death on social media in an attempt to convince authorities and members of the public that he was no longer alive.
However, locals claim he has since resurfaced and is allegedly terrorising residents during night-time robberies.
The residents further accused him of working alongside another suspected thug identified as Kevo, claiming the two caused trouble in the neighbourhood on Thursday night.
They alleged that the pair moved around the estate at night, attacking and threatening residents, leaving many afraid to move around after dark.
The latest complaints come after Kaloki was allegedly accused of attacking his grandmother with a machete before fleeing with money belonging to a plot.
Residents claimed that police officers at Kayole Police Station were familiar with the suspect but accused them of repeatedly releasing him whenever he was arrested.
The allegations have sparked frustration among locals, who say the continued insecurity has made it difficult for them to go about their daily activities without fear.
They are now appealing to officers at Kayole Police Station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the claims, establish the suspect’s whereabouts and take appropriate legal action.
The residents also want authorities to look into the alleged attacks and establish whether the suspect has been involved in other criminal activities within the neighbourhood.
However, the allegations against Kaloki and his alleged accomplice have not been independently verified, and no official police statement had been provided regarding the claims.
Residents are hoping for swift intervention to restore security and prevent further incidents in the area.
