Millie Odhiambo Sparks Speculation as She Announces Major Political Move on Sunday
Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has sparked fresh political speculation after announcing plans to make a major public declaration on Sunday, November 1, 2026, without revealing what she intends to communicate to Kenyans.
The outspoken legislator shared the message on Saturday, October 31, asking her followers to remain patient as they awaited her announcement. Her statement attracted widespread attention, with thousands of people reacting and sharing their expectations.
Some Kenyans have speculated that Millie could be preparing to leave the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and join the Linda Mwananchi Movement associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Several supporters of the emerging movement flooded her comment section, urging her to join their political camp. However, Millie has not confirmed the speculation, and her announcement made no direct reference to Sifuna or ODM.
The timing has attracted attention because it comes barely a day after Sifuna unveiled Linda Mwananchi Movement’s national headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, alongside a proposed leadership structure ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Sifuna was named party leader-designate, while Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi was proposed as national chairperson. Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya was assigned the roles of Board of Trustees chairperson and head of the presidential campaign.
Other proposed officials include former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and former Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo as deputy party leaders. Suba South MP Caroli Omondi was proposed as Secretary General.
The proposed leadership team is expected to be presented to delegates during the movement’s National Delegates Convention scheduled for November 13. The launch attracted opposition leaders, including Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa.
Millie’s political position has previously attracted attention amid divisions within ODM between Linda Ground and Linda Mwananchi. In May, she maintained that she belonged to neither faction, insisting that her loyalty remained with the Orange party.
Her recent criticism of some ODM decisions, including the handling of Sifuna, Babu Owino and James Orengo, has further fuelled questions about her political direction. Whether Sunday’s announcement signals a major political shift remains unknown.
