Kenya Railways launches SGR car transport service, targets 700 vehicles monthly

Kenya Railways has launched a new vehicle transportation service on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), with the first consignment of 24 vehicles successfully transported from Mombasa to Nairobi.The railway operator says it plans to move approximately 700 vehicles every month as it seeks to expand its revenue streams, ease pressure on highways and provide motorists and car dealers with an alternative means of transporting vehicles between the two cities.
