Jacob Zuma Returna With Message Before Elections

Former South African President and uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader Jacob Zuma has broken his silence with a strong political message to South Africans ahead of the highly anticipated 4 November 2026 local government elections.

Zuma addressed the nation on Friday evening, 30 October, marking his first public address since being discharged from hospital following an 11-day stay at a Pietermaritzburg medical facility.

His absence from the campaign trail had attracted considerable attention, particularly as the MK Party intensified its efforts to secure support ahead of the municipal elections.

During his address, Zuma thanked South Africans who had expressed concern about his health and sent him messages of encouragement while he was away.

He then shifted his attention to the upcoming elections, urging voters to participate in large numbers and, more importantly, support the MK Party.

Zuma expressed confidence in his party’s electoral prospects, insisting that the movement was prepared to take over and lead the country.

“I am wishing that everyone will vote and vote correctly, but more than anything, vote for uMkhonto weSizwe,” he said.

The former president also spoke about the difficult economic and social conditions facing many South Africans, saying the elections presented an opportunity for citizens to take charge of the country’s future.

He called for a peaceful South Africa where people could enjoy better opportunities and benefit from the country’s resources.

Zuma further encouraged supporters to come out in large numbers on 4 November, declaring that his political movement was ready to govern.

“There is no doubt about it. And no matter what other people can say and do, we are ready to take over,” he declared.

His return to public political messaging comes at a crucial moment for the MK Party, which is hoping to strengthen its position, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal.

With election day approaching, Zuma’s message is expected to energise supporters as political parties make their final appeals to voters.
