“I Have Full Evidence Including Text Messages” Ruto’s Ally Alleges Who Plotted Kalonzo’s Heckling

Former President William Ruto’s adviser Makau Mutua has accused Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna of organising the heckling of Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka during the launch of Linda Mwananchi Movement headquarters in Nairobi.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Saturday, October 31, Mutua alleged that Sifuna was behind the disruption that interrupted Kalonzo’s address at the high-profile opposition gathering held on Friday, October 30.

Mutua further claimed that he possessed voice recordings and text messages which he said supported his allegations against the Nairobi senator.

“SIFUNA organized for KALONZO MUSYOKA to be HECKLED. VERY PRIMITIVE. I have voice and text messages,” Mutua stated.

The controversy follows an incident in which Kalonzo faced repeated interruptions from sections of the audience while addressing leaders and supporters during the unveiling of the movement’s headquarters in Lavington.

The confrontation began after DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa appeared to suggest that Sifuna was the opposition’s presidential candidate.

Kalonzo challenged the declaration, arguing that the opposition had yet to complete consultations on who would carry its presidential ticket in the 2027 General Election.

He reminded Sifuna that the November 13 National Delegates Convention would provide an opportunity to formally consider the question of presidential candidature.

However, his remarks were repeatedly interrupted by supporters chanting “Sifuna President”, forcing the Wiper leader to question whether the audience wanted him to continue speaking.

Sifuna eventually intervened, urging his supporters to respect the visiting leaders and allow Kalonzo to complete his address.

“This is not a way to treat our guests. Just let us listen to them. We have been honoured by their presence,” Sifuna told the crowd.

Kalonzo later clarified that he had no objection to Sifuna pursuing the presidency, adding that he would support the Nairobi senator if he emerged as the opposition’s preferred candidate.

Mutua’s allegations have introduced another controversy into the opposition’s efforts to maintain a united front ahead of the 2027 elections.

The incident has also attracted criticism from ODM leaders, including Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, who questioned how Kalonzo was treated during the gathering.

Mutua has yet to publicly release the alleged voice recordings and text messages to substantiate his claims.
