‘Empty Lawyer’ vs ‘Go to Law School’: Miracles Aboagye and Akwatia MP Clash in Heated Live Debate
According to GhanaWeb on Saturday, October 31, 2026, a heated exchange erupted between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, and the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, during a live discussion on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme.
The confrontation attracted attention because of the strong language used by both politicians, with the discussion eventually turning into a personal exchange involving insults and accusations.
The disagreement reportedly started when the Akwatia MP raised questions about allegations of financial irregularities involving Miracles Aboagye and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). Bediako reportedly challenged Aboagye over claims that his assets had been confiscated in connection with investigations into alleged corruption-related activities.
The accusation did not go down well with the NPP communications director, who immediately responded with strong words against the legislator. He described him as an “empty lawyer” and a “thief” while questioning his credibility.
Miracles Aboagye also brought up previous allegations made against the Akwatia MP by a pastor, who had accused the legislator of taking money from him.
In his response, Aboagye reportedly warned the MP against making such accusations against him and insisted that he would not tolerate what he considered personal attacks.
“You are an empty lawyer and a thief; you cannot do anything to me. Let this be your first and last. When the pastor said you stole his money, did anyone arrest you? Don’t ever try me again,” Aboagye stated during the heated exchange.
However, Bernard Bediako Baidoo did not remain silent. The legislator pushed back against the allegations and challenged the suggestion that the money being discussed belonged to the state.
“It is not public money,” the Akwatia MP responded, further intensifying the disagreement between the two panellists.
The controversy surrounding the MP is not entirely new. Some months ago, Pastor Kelvin, founder and leader of Zoe Outreach Embassy Church, made allegations against him concerning the ownership and sale of properties belonging to Air Real Estate Company Limited.
The pastor accused the legislator of allegedly orchestrating a scheme involving the company’s properties and land. He further claimed that questionable documents and court proceedings were used to facilitate the sale of some properties.
However, these remain allegations and should not be treated as established facts.
The latest confrontation has once again drawn attention to the growing political disagreements between representatives of the NPP and NDC, particularly over corruption allegations, public accountability and the management of the country’s resources.
The incident on Newsfile has also generated interest because of the personal nature of the exchanges, with the discussion moving beyond the original political issues into accusations and insults.
