“Edwin Sifuna Ndiye Presidential Candidate Wetu” Babu Preaches Opposition Unity at LM Ukunda Rally

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has endorsed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as his preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election, calling on opposition leaders to unite behind a single candidate.

Speaking during a Linda Mwananchi Movement rally in Ukunda, Kwale County, Owino urged opposition leaders to put aside their differences and work together to challenge President William Ruto’s administration.

He praised Sifuna, saying he represents the kind of leadership and generational change needed in the country.

Owino also called on Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to join efforts to build a united opposition.

“United we stand, divided we fall,” he said, urging the leaders to support a consensus candidate instead of pursuing separate presidential ambitions.

The rally also focused on the country’s economic challenges. Speakers criticised the government’s policies, citing the rising cost of living, heavy taxation and difficulties facing public healthcare facilities.

Owino highlighted the financial struggles of young people working in the informal sector, including boda boda and tuk-tuk operators. He said many were burdened by loan repayments and called for solutions to ease their financial difficulties.

The Embakasi East MP also declared his intention to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

The Ukunda rally was part of the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots support along the Coast ahead of the 2027 polls.
