The footage, reportedly captured by another truck travelling along the same stretch of road, appears to show the moments leading up to the fatal crash.

The side tipper can be seen attempting to overtake the recording truck while travelling up a small hill, shortly after the Nyamane River.

The manoeuvre takes place across double solid white lines, with a left-hand bend visible further ahead.

Before the truck can complete the overtake, another vehicle emerges from the bend in the oncoming lane.

Despite the approaching vehicle, the side tipper continues travelling on the wrong side of the road. It then collides head-on with the oncoming light motor vehicle.

The collision leaves the vehicles severely damaged, with the footage showing the devastating consequences of the crash.

According to truckers who were at the scene, one person travelling in the light motor vehicle lost their life, while three other people sustained serious injuries.

These casualty details have not yet been independently confirmed by authorities.

The incident is a sobering reminder of the dangers of attempting to overtake where road markings prohibit the manoeuvre, particularly on hilly sections and near bends where visibility of approaching traffic is limited.
