2027: Atiku’s Son Declares Massive Support for Tinubu, Targets 2 Million Voters Nationwide

According to a report by Vanguard on Friday, October 30, 2026, Alhaji Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has announced plans to mobilise two million supporters nationwide in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abba, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), unveiled the initiative through his political organisation, Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

The proposed mobilisation exercise is expected to cover Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, with Abuja serving as the starting point. The organisation hopes to establish a nationwide network capable of strengthening Tinubu’s grassroots support and improving his prospects in the next presidential election.

Abba explained that preparations were already underway, stressing that the initiative would involve more than political rallies and public displays of support. According to him, HBTO intends to build organised structures across communities, states and geopolitical zones to convert political backing into actual votes.

He also identified the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as an important figure in the organisation’s immediate political plans. Abba disclosed that the group would initially support Wike’s political objectives in the FCT while working towards securing Rivers State for Tinubu in 2027.

As part of its expansion strategy, HBTO plans to begin a major mobilisation exercise in Rivers State during the first week of November.

Beyond election-related activities, Abba announced a transportation support programme that would initially involve the provision of 10 luxury buses. The initiative is expected to commence in the FCT before extending to other parts of the country, with the stated aim of reducing transportation challenges for ordinary Nigerians.

Addressing his decision to support Tinubu despite his father’s prominent position in opposition politics, Abba maintained that political choices should be based on personal conviction. He said he had deliberately established the organisation and remained comfortable with his decision despite possible differences in political opinions within his family.

He also defended the administration’s economic reforms, acknowledging the difficulties they have created for citizens while arguing that they were necessary to address longstanding structural problems.

Abba said HBTO would engage communities, explain government policies and promote support for Tinubu’s administration as it develops its nationwide mobilisation network ahead of the 2027 elections.
