Wamuchomba Sends Sifuna Message After Launching Linda Mwananchi Party: “I Believed in You First”
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has congratulated Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following the launch of the Linda Mwananchi political party, recalling their political association and expressing confidence in his leadership.
In a Facebook post on Friday evening, October 30, Wamuchomba described the new outfit as a well-grounded political party and said she had believed in Sifuna’s leadership long before its establishment.
The lawmaker recalled their involvement in forming Kenya Moja group, a parliamentary caucus that brought together legislators from different political parties to criticise President William Ruto’s administration.
The group, which included Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi among others, travelled across the country holding meetings and popularising its opposition to the government.
Wamuchomba said her participation in the caucus and attendance at several of its meetings had convinced her that Sifuna had what it took to occupy a position at the highest levels of political decision-making.
“A lot has happened along the way, but our purpose cannot melt away,” she wrote, reflecting on the political developments that followed the formation of the group in 2024.
Team Kenya Moja later evolved into the Linda Mwananchi movement, with several of its original members maintaining their opposition to the government.
However, Wamuchomba eventually parted ways with the group and returned to the ruling UDA.
Despite their political differences, Wamuchomba’s latest message suggested that she still recognised the significance of the political initiative she helped establish alongside Sifuna.
She also recalled that their meetings always began with prayers and expressed hope that Sifuna would receive divine guidance as he assumed a new political responsibility.
“I believe what God started in 2024 He will accomplish it in His times. As always, we started our sessions with prayers, and I believe God knows you better than all of us. I pray that God’s wisdom be your portion,” she added.
Sifuna launched the Linda Mwananchi party headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, on Friday, October 30, in an event attended by several opposition figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa.
